Enjoy some beauty and history in your own backyard!
You live in Georgia, but how much of this beautiful state have you really seen? Georgia offers “diverse terrains, ranging from the splendid Blue Ridge Mountains to over 110 miles of coastline, home to 15 barrier islands.” There are tons of public parks and many charming small towns with historic downtown main streets. Check out a few below and then head to Vacationidea.com to see the entire catalog of splendid places for day-tripping.
Named for the notorious 18th century pirate Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach, Blackbeard Island is just off the coast in McIntosh County near Sapelo Island.
The island is protected as a national wildlife refuge and visitors can only access this wonderland of “significant populations of native flora and fauna, including important populations of shorebirds and migratory birds" by boat.
Activities for day-trip visitors include biking, photography, and wildlife watching, with saltwater surf and creek fishing allowed with permits. Or take a hike and seek out Blackbeard’s treasure, purported to be buried somewhere on the island.
Dahlonega is a charming city in North Georgia with so much to do and see.
It’s the site of the first major gold rush in the US and today, visitors “can explore the Dahlonega Gold Museum, located within the city's 1836 courthouse building, which details the chronology and impact of the 1828 gold rush.”
Day-trippers can visit the public square, home to tasting rooms for sampling various local vineyards, get their fill of arts and music at local venues, or head to nearby Amicalola Falls.

It’s a new trend among young people:
What is Rentvesting?
According to Realty Times, Rentvesting “refers to buying an investment property and renting it out, typically in an affordable or up-and-coming area. Then, you continue to rent the primary place where you live in the location you prefer.”
Think of it as “Buying the dump to afford the palace.” Many young people today are putting off buying their own home to invest in a rental property which can give them the ability to potentially afford to rent wherever they want.
The plus is that these “rentvestors” are still making an investment in real estate and building equity and long-term wealth, all while keeping the lifestyle choices that are important to them.
If you would like more information about how this strategy might work for you, you can read the article below, and then be sure to call your knowledgeable, helpful Apothika real estate agent.
