What is Newstalgia?

Newstalgia is an oxymoronic aesthetic that combines old and new, modern and vintage, pristine and patina. It allows for dressing your home in beautiful home décor staples while dropping in pieces with character, “vintage items that have a bit of patina to them—worn edges or burnished spots that imbue the piece with a little bit of soul,” according to Deanna Jacoby, senior designer at LA-based design firm Jenn Feldman Designs.

Most of us are drawn to older things with character, but adding them to our décor aesthetic, blending them with newer pieces should be done with care. According to Jacoby, “ With each piece added to your home, consider how it works with existing pieces.
